**Payal Shakya** is a Nepalese-born Australian model. She is the winner of [Miss Nepal](/source/Miss_Nepal_World) 2004, which was held in Birendra International Convention Center, [Kathmandu](/source/Kathmandu).[1][2] She is currently residing in [Sydney](/source/Sydney), [Australia](/source/Australia). She works at Optus. While she was [Miss Nepal](/source/Miss_Nepal), Payal worked to save the [wetlands](/source/Wetlands) and [rhinos](/source/Rhinoceros). She was also the ambassador for Cancer Relief Society.[3]

On 21 November 2011, Payal married Sarun Tamrakar, the lead singer of Nepali band [The Uglyz](/source/The_Uglyz), in Sydney.[4][5]
