The **Pavlograd uezd** ([Russian](/source/Russian_language): Павлоградскій уѣздъ, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Russian): *Pavlogradskiy uyezd*; [Ukrainian](/source/Ukrainian_language): Павлоградський повіт, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Ukrainian): *Pavlohrads'kyi povit*) was one of the subdivisions of the [Yekaterinoslav Governorate](/source/Yekaterinoslav_Governorate) of the [Russian Empire](/source/Russian_Empire). It was situated in the northern part of the governorate. Its administrative centre was [Pavlograd](/source/Pavlohrad) (Pavlohrad).

## Demographics

At the time of the [Russian Empire Census](/source/Russian_Empire_Census) of 1897, Pavlogradsky Uyezd had a population of 251,460. Of these, 79.7% spoke [Ukrainian](/source/Ukrainian_language), 14.4% [Russian](/source/Russian_language), 2.9% [Yiddish](/source/Yiddish), 2.3% [German](/source/German_language), 0.2% [Polish](/source/Polish_language), 0.2% [Belarusian](/source/Belarusian_language), 0.1% [Tatar](/source/Tatar_language) and 0.1% [Romani](/source/Romani_language) as their native language.[1]
