Canadian actress/singer

**Pauline Lapointe** (May 12, 1950 - August 30, 2010) was a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) film and television actress and singer from [Quebec](/source/Quebec).[1] She was most noted for her performance in the 1993 film *[La Florida](/source/La_Florida_(film))*, for which she garnered a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Actress](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Actress) at the [14th Genie Awards](/source/14th_Genie_Awards).[2]

The twin sister of actress [Louise Portal](/source/Louise_Portal), she was born in [Chicoutimi](/source/Chicoutimi), Quebec.[1] She released two albums as a pop singer, *Pauline Lapointe* (1980) and *Je dis oui* (1983), before concentrating primarily on acting.[1] Her other film roles included *[The Handyman](/source/The_Handyman_(1980_film)) (L'Homme à tout faire)*, *[Sonatine](/source/Sonatine_(1984_film))*, *[The Alley Cat](/source/The_Alley_Cat_(1985_film)) (Le Matou)*, *[Cruising Bar](/source/Cruising_Bar)*, *[The Ideal Man](/source/The_Ideal_Man) (L'Homme idéal)* and *[It's Your Turn, Laura Cadieux](/source/It's_Your_Turn%2C_Laura_Cadieux) (C'est à ton tour, Laura Cadieux)*, while her television roles included *[Watatatow](/source/Watatatow)*, *L'Obsession* and *Emma*.

She died in 2010 of breast cancer.[1]
