== Background ==
Before settling in [Malaysia](/source/Malaysia), Moss, sometimes fondly addressed as '''Uncle Paul''', was the [song writer](/source/song_writer), guitarist and musical director for international pop band [Aishah and The Fan Club](/source/Aishah_and_The_Fan_Club).

The band originated in [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand) and had five members: Paul Moss himself on guitars, Malcolm Smith on keyboards, Glenn Peters on Bass, Dave Larsen on drums and Aishah as their lead vocalist.

Aishah and The Fan Club were a big hit in 1990 when they released the album ''Sensation'' which had three Top 20 singles in New Zealand<ref>{{Cite web |title=charts.org.nz - Discography The Fan Club |url=https://charts.nz/showinterpret.asp?interpret=The+Fan+Club |access-date=2024-03-11 |website=charts.nz}}</ref> and Malaysian charts: "Sensation", "Paradise" and "Call Me".

Their next album, titled "Respect The Beat", also produced three Top 40 singles: "I Feel Love", "Never Gave Up On You" and "Don't Let Me Fall Alone". The album received a positive review in Billboard<ref>{{Cite magazine |date=28 July 1990 |title=Fan Club -- Respect the Beat |magazine=Billboard |issue= |pages=66}}</ref> and the remix for "Don't Let Me Fall Alone" received heavy airplay on US Top 40 stations throughout the summer of 1990.<ref>{{Cite magazine |date=16 June 1990 |title=Power Playlists: Current Playlists of the Nation's Largest and Most Influential Top 40 Radio Stations |magazine=Billboard |pages=23}}</ref>

He and [Ahmad Izham Omar](/source/Ahmad_Izham_Omar) (who is today the CEO of [8TV](/source/8TV_(Malaysia)), a Malaysian TV channel) formed their own music company called Positive Tone under the [EMI](/source/EMI) label.
