British former newspaper editor

**Paul Norman Connew** is a [British](/source/British_people) former [newspaper editor](/source/Newspaper_editor).

Born in [Coventry](/source/Coventry), Connew attended [King Henry VIII Grammar School](/source/King_Henry_VIII_School%2C_Coventry), an independent school in the city, followed by the LSE. He entered journalism working for the *[Coventry Express](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Coventry_Express&action=edit&redlink=1)*, then moved to the *[Coventry Evening Telegraph](/source/Coventry_Evening_Telegraph).* He later moved to London to work for the *[Daily Mirror](/source/Daily_Mirror)* and was the Mirror Group's US Bureau chief until joining the Murdoch organisation in the US before returning to London.[1] He became Deputy Editor of the *[News of the World](/source/News_of_the_World)* before returning to the *Mirror* as Deputy Editor.[2] He edited the *[Sunday Mirror](/source/Sunday_Mirror)* for a short period starting in 1994, and subsequently worked as a consultant for [Express Newspapers](/source/Express_Newspapers) and [Talksport](/source/Talksport).[3]

Connew was formerly married to television presenter [Lowri Turner](/source/Lowri_Turner) during which period he became a house husband, but the couple, who have two sons, separated after 10 years in 2002, and divorced in 2004.[4] Connew subsequently worked as Director of Communications for the Sparks charity, and as a judge for the [British Press Awards](/source/British_Press_Awards).[5]
