Oakden made his [first-class](/source/first-class_cricket) debut for [Nottinghamshire](/source/Nottinghamshire_County_Cricket_Club) against [Lancashire](/source/Lancashire_County_Cricket_Club) in the [1960 County Championship](/source/1960_County_Championship).
