**Patrick Konrad** (born 13 October 1991) is an Austrian [racing cyclist](/source/Racing_cyclist), who currently rides for [UCI WorldTeam](/source/UCI_WorldTeam) [Lidl–Trek](/source/Lidl%E2%80%93Trek_(men's_team)).[5]

## Career

Born in [Mödling](/source/M%C3%B6dling), Konrad finished 4th in the [2014 Tour of Austria](/source/2014_Tour_of_Austria) for [Gourmetfein–Simplon Wels](/source/Team_Felt%E2%80%93Felbermayr), winning the young rider classification. He joined [Bora–Argon 18](/source/Red_Bull%E2%80%93Bora%E2%80%93Hansgrohe) for the 2015 season,[6] and he was named in the start list for the [2016 Tour de France](/source/2016_Tour_de_France)[7] and the start list for the [2017 Giro d'Italia](/source/2017_Giro_d'Italia).[8] In 2018 he won the mountains classification at the [Tour de Pologne](/source/2018_Tour_de_Pologne),[9] and finished seventh overall at the [Giro d'Italia](/source/2018_Giro_d'Italia).[10] In 2019 he won the [Austrian National Road Race Championships](/source/Austrian_National_Road_Race_Championships) and placed 3rd in the [Tour de Suisse](/source/2019_Tour_de_Suisse).[11] In the [2020 Giro d'Italia](/source/2020_Giro_d'Italia), held in October instead of May due to the [COVID-19 pandemic in Italy](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Italy), he finished in eighth place overall.[12]

In 2021, Konrad won his first stage at a [Grand Tour](/source/Grand_Tour_(cycling)), winning a hilly stage 16 of the [Tour de France](/source/2021_Tour_de_France); he also won the stage's [combativity award](/source/Combativity_award_in_the_Tour_de_France).[13] As a result, he became the third Austrian rider to win a stage at the Tour de France, after [Max Bulla](/source/Max_Bulla) in [1931](/source/1931_Tour_de_France) and [Georg Totschnig](/source/Georg_Totschnig) in [2005](/source/2005_Tour_de_France).[14]

He is the son of the organiser of the [Vienna City Marathon](/source/Vienna_City_Marathon) and former [middle-distance runner](/source/Middle-distance_running) [Wolfgang Konrad](/source/Wolfgang_Konrad).[15]
