'''Patrick Gallois''' (born 1956) is a French [flutist](/source/flutist) and [conductor](/source/conducting).

Gallois was born in Linselles near the town of [Lille](/source/Lille) in the north of France. At the age of 17 he began studies at the [Conservatoire de Paris](/source/Conservatoire_de_Paris) with the celebrated flutist [Jean-Pierre Rampal](/source/Jean-Pierre_Rampal) and after two years received the First Prize.  At the age of 21 he became principal flutist of the [Orchestre National de France](/source/Orchestre_National_de_France) under [Lorin Maazel](/source/Lorin_Maazel). He served in that capacity from 1977 to 1984. In 1984 he left this post for a career as a flute soloist and, later, conductor.

Gallois has played under many famous conductors, including [Leonard Bernstein](/source/Leonard_Bernstein), [Karl Böhm](/source/Karl_B%C3%B6hm), [Pierre Boulez](/source/Pierre_Boulez), [Sergiu Celibidache](/source/Sergiu_Celibidache), [Eugen Jochum](/source/Eugen_Jochum), and [Seiji Ozawa](/source/Seiji_Ozawa). He also regularly collaborates in chamber music with [Yuri Bashmet](/source/Yuri_Bashmet), [Jörg Demus](/source/J%C3%B6rg_Demus), [Natalia Gutman](/source/Natalia_Gutman), the [Lindsay String Quartet](/source/Lindsay_String_Quartet), and [Peter Schreier](/source/Peter_Schreier). Formerly he performed with Jean-Pierre Rampal and the harpist [Lily Laskine](/source/Lily_Laskine).

Gallois has had an exclusive recording contract with [Deutsche Grammophon](/source/Deutsche_Grammophon) and, more recently, has recorded with [Naxos](/source/Naxos_Records). His discography currently includes some 75 recordings.

He has been teaching at the [Accademia Musicale Chigiana](/source/Accademia_Musicale_Chigiana) since 1999.

From 2003 to 2012 Gallois was the music director of [Jyväskylä Sinfonia](/source/Jyv%C3%A4skyl%C3%A4_Sinfonia) in [Jyväskylä](/source/Jyv%C3%A4skyl%C3%A4), Finland. He toured with the orchestra in Europe and Japan.
