**Patensie** is a town in [Sarah Baartman District Municipality](/source/Sarah_Baartman_District_Municipality) in the [Eastern Cape](/source/Eastern_Cape) province of South Africa. Patensie lies along the [R331 road](/source/R331_(Eastern_Cape)) just south of [Noorshoek](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Noorshoek&action=edit&redlink=1). The [Kouga Dam](/source/Kouga_Dam) is located several kilometres to the west. The name is [Khoi](/source/Khoi_language) in origin, and means "cattle resting place".[3] The town is a centre for the citrus, tobacco, and vegetable farms in the area.[3]
