# Pat Markham

**Patrick Markham** (born 23 August 1971[1]) is an Irish retired [hurler](/source/Hurling). At club level he played with [Clooney-Quin](/source/Clooney-Quin_GAA) and at inter-county level with the [Clare senior hurling team](/source/Clare_senior_hurling_team).

## Career

Markham played hurling as a student at [St Flannan's College](/source/St_Flannan's_College) in [Ennis](/source/Ennis) and lined out in all grades during his time there. After winning a [Dean Ryan Cup](/source/Dean_Ryan_Cup) medal in 1988, he was part of the college's senior team that won the [Dr Harty Cup](/source/Dr_Harty_Cup) title in 1989 after beating St Patrick's Comprehensive School in an all-[Clare](/source/Clare_GAA) final.[2][3] Markham also lined out in the subsequent one-point [All-Ireland final](/source/1989_Croke_Cup#Final) defeat by [St Kieran's College](/source/St_Kieran's_College).[4]

At club level, Markham played at all levels with [Clooney-Quin](/source/Clooney-Quin_GAA). He won a [Clare IHC](/source/Clare_Intermediate_Hurling_Championship) medal in 2006, following the club's 0–16 to 0–14 defeat of [Killanena](/source/Killanena_GAA) in the final.[5] Markham later claimed a [Munster Club IHC](/source/Munster_Intermediate_Club_Hurling_Championship) medal after a 0–14 to 1–08 win over [Bishopstown](/source/Bishopstown_GAA).[6]

At inter-county level, Markham first appeared for [Clare](/source/Clare_GAA) as a member of the minor team. He won a [Munster MHC](/source/Munster_Minor_Hurling_Championship) medal before later losing to [Offaly](/source/Offaly_GAA) in the [1989 All-Ireland MHC final](/source/1989_All-Ireland_Minor_Hurling_Championship#All-Ireland_final).[7] He later progressed to the [under-21 team](/source/All-Ireland_Under-21_Hurling_Championship).[8] Markham made a number of appearances for the [senior team](/source/Clare_senior_hurling_team) between 1990 and 1995.
