Initially performing with the comedy troupe [The Second City](/source/The_Second_City) in [Chicago](/source/Chicago), he first gained attention for his main role as Dan Coleman on the [CBS](/source/CBS) sitcom *[The George Wendt Show](/source/The_George_Wendt_Show)* (1995). Following *The George Wendt Show*, Finn had recurring roles on television as Phil Jr. on the CBS sitcom *[Murphy Brown](/source/Murphy_Brown)* (1995–1997) and Jim Frost on the [NBC](/source/NBC) comedy-drama series *[Ed](/source/Ed_(TV_series))* (2001–2002). He also had a number of supporting roles in comedy films throughout the 2000s, including *[Dude, Where's My Car?](/source/Dude%2C_Where's_My_Car%3F)* (2000), *[How High](/source/How_High)* (2001), and *[I Love You, Beth Cooper](/source/I_Love_You%2C_Beth_Cooper_(film))* (2009). He grew up in [Wilmette](/source/Wilmette%2C_Illinois), where he attended [Loyola Academy](/source/Loyola_Academy).[2] He graduated from [Marquette University](/source/Marquette_University) in 1987, where he played on the rugby team alongside [Chris Farley](/source/Chris_Farley). ## Career After graduating, he moved to Chicago where he joined [The Second City](/source/The_Second_City) National Touring Company. He also performed with the [iO Theater](/source/IO_Theater).[3] After writing and performing in two Second City resident shows, Finn was cast as Dan Coleman on the [CBS](/source/CBS) sitcom *[The George Wendt Show](/source/The_George_Wendt_Show)*.
