He played in the [National Basketball Association](/source/National_Basketball_Association) (NBA) for three seasons between 2002 and 2007, for the [Orlando Magic](/source/Orlando_Magic) and the [Phoenix Suns](/source/Phoenix_Suns). Burke played high school basketball at [Mariner High School](/source/Mariner_High_School_(Cape_Coral%2C_Florida)) in [Cape Coral, Florida](/source/Cape_Coral%2C_Florida). He played in 62 games with them, averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 [rebounds](/source/Rebound_(basketball)) per game. He did not play in the NBA during the [2003–04 NBA season](/source/2003%E2%80%9304_NBA_season), or the [2004–05 NBA season](/source/2004%E2%80%9305_NBA_season). In his return to the NBA, he played for the [Phoenix Suns](/source/Phoenix_Suns) for two seasons. In Europe, he also played with the Spanish clubs [Tau Ceramica](/source/Tau_Ceramica), [Gran Canaria](/source/CB_Gran_Canaria) and [Real Madrid](/source/Real_Madrid_Baloncesto), and with [Maroussi](/source/Maroussi_BC) in Greece. He helped Real to the final of the [ULEB Cup](/source/ULEB_Cup) (now called [EuroCup](/source/EuroCup_Basketball)) in 2004 and to the [Spanish League](/source/Liga_ACB) title in 2005.

== Coaching ==
Pat Burke was named the new men's basketball head coach at [Beacon College](/source/Beacon_College) in [Leesburg, Florida](/source/Leesburg%2C_Florida) in March 2025. Burke succeeds [Sam Vincent](/source/Sam_Vincent_(basketball)), who coached the Beacon NaviGators/Blazers from 2022 to 2025 and helped the athletic program achieve [USCAA](/source/United_States_Collegiate_Athletic_Association) membership. Burke has had ties with Beacon College since 2015 when he pitched the idea to begin a summer program at the school for [Saudi](/source/Saudi_Arabia) and other international students.
