Undrafted, Pelletier played in the [Quebec Major Junior Hockey League](/source/Quebec_Major_Junior_Hockey_League) before making his professional debut in the [ECHL](/source/ECHL) with the [Louisiana IceGators](/source/Louisiana_IceGators_(ECHL)). After a year playing for the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate the [Rockford IceHogs](/source/Rockford_IceHogs), Pelletier signed a one-year deal with [Columbus Blue Jackets](/source/Columbus_Blue_Jackets) of the NHL for the [2009–10](/source/2009-10_AHL_season) season. On December 8, 2009, he was traded to the [St. Louis Blues](/source/St._Louis_Blues) for [Brendan Bell](/source/Brendan_Bell_(ice_hockey)) and [Tomas Kana](/source/Tomas_Kana).
