The film is a remake of the [Tamil](/source/Tamil_cinema) film ''[Boss Engira Bhaskaran](/source/Boss_Engira_Bhaskaran)'' starring [Arya](/source/Arya_(actor)) and [Nayantara](/source/Nayantara).  The film was a musical hit with the soundtrack and score composed by [Mano Murthy](/source/Mano_Murthy). The film also received appreciation for its neat screenplay.
