**Panzerpappa** is a contemporary [Norwegian](/source/Norway) [progressive rock](/source/Progressive_rock) band based in [Oslo](/source/Oslo).

## Biography

The band plays [instrumental](/source/Instrumental) [RIO](/source/Rock_in_Opposition) or progressive rock with a humoristic twist ("Progressive Rock with a friendly face", in their own words), which is often reminiscent of inspirational precursors such as [Samla Mammas Manna](/source/Samla_Mammas_Manna), [King Crimson](/source/King_Crimson), [Henry Cow](/source/Henry_Cow), [Univers Zero](/source/Univers_Zero), [Happy The Man](/source/Happy_The_Man) and [Frank Zappa](/source/Frank_Zappa).[1][2]

Panzerpappa have released eight studio albums since their inception in 1998.
