**Panchagarh-1** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). The current [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament) in this constituency is [Muhammad Nawshad Zamir](/source/Muhammad_Nawshad_Zamir) of [Bangladesh Nationalist Party](/source/Bangladesh_Nationalist_Party).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Tetulia](/source/Tetulia_Upazila), [Panchagarh Sadar](/source/Panchagarh_Sadar_Upazila) and [Atwari](/source/Atwari_Upazila) upazilas, except the [Boda](/source/Boda_Upazila) Pourashova area.[1][2][3][*[failed verification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability)*]

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from the Dinajpur-2 constituency when the former Dinajpur District was split into three districts: [Panchagarh](/source/Panchagarh_District), [Thakurgaon](/source/Thakurgaon_District), and [Dinajpur](/source/Dinajpur_District%2C_Bangladesh).[4]

Ahead of the [2026 general election](/source/2026_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency to exclude the Boda Pourashova area of [Atwari Upazila](/source/Atwari_Upazila).[5][*[failed verification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability)*]
