# Pacification sejm

**Pacification sejm** (Polish: *Sejm pacyfikacyjny*) refers to a type of the [sejm](/source/Sejm) (parliament session) in the [Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth](/source/Polish%E2%80%93Lithuanian_Commonwealth). The pacification sejms were held after a period of conflict to bring peace and unity to the country, usually after a disputed [royal election](/source/Royal_election). Pacification sejms were held in [1589](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1589)), [1673](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1673)), [1698](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1698)), [1699](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1699)), [1717](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1717)) and [1736](/source/Pacification_Sejm_(1736)).
