**The Pacific-Union Club** is a social club located at 1000 [California Street](/source/California_Street_(San_Francisco)) in [San Francisco](/source/San_Francisco), [California](/source/California), in the [Nob Hill](/source/Nob_Hill) neighborhood. It was founded in 1889, as a merger of two earlier clubs: the Pacific Club (founded 1852) and the Union Club (founded 1854).

The clubhouse is the former [Flood Mansion](/source/James_C._Flood_Mansion), built as a home for silver magnate [James Clair Flood](/source/James_Clair_Flood). It was designed by Canadian architect [Augustus Laver](/source/Augustus_Laver). The reconstruction and expansion of the original mansion into the clubhouse was designed by [Willis Polk](/source/Willis_Polk). It is considered the first [brownstone](/source/Brownstone) constructed west of the Mississippi River.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] Along with the [Fairmont Hotel](/source/The_Fairmont_San_Francisco) across the street, it was the only structure in the area to survive the [San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906](/source/1906_San_Francisco_earthquake).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
