Pablo Andrés Kast Sommerhoff was born on August 24, 1973, in [Chicago](/source/Chicago), [United States](/source/United_States). He is the son of Miguel Kast Rist, who served as Minister of ODEPLAN (1978), Minister of Labor (1980), and President of the [Central Bank of Chile](/source/Central_Bank_of_Chile) (1982) during the military regime of [Augusto Pinochet](/source/Augusto_Pinochet), and Cecilia Sommerhoff.<ref name="bcn">{{cite web |title=Pablo Andrés Kast Sommerhoff |url=https://www.bcn.cl/historiapolitica/resenas_parlamentarias/wiki/Pablo_Andrés_Kast_Sommerhoff |access-date=10 February 2026 |website=Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile |language=es}}</ref>

He is the brother of Senator [Felipe Kast](/source/Felipe_Kast), Deputy [Tomás Kast](/source/Tom%C3%A1s_Kast), and Bárbara Kast Sommerhoff, former city councilor of [Paine](/source/Paine%2C_Chile) (2012–2021). He is also the nephew of former deputy and former presidential candidate [José Antonio Kast](/source/Jos%C3%A9_Antonio_Kast). He is the stepson of Javier Etcheberry, former Minister of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications (2002–2004).<ref name="bcn" />

He is married to Juana Edwards Urrejola and is the father of four children.<ref name="bcn" />

Kast completed his primary and secondary education at Colegio Verbo Divino in [Santiago](/source/Santiago). He later earned a degree in Architecture from the [Pontifical Catholic University of Chile](/source/Pontifical_Catholic_University_of_Chile).<ref name="bcn" />

Between 2004 and 2010, Kast worked at an industrial real estate development company, where he designed commercial centers for small entrepreneurs in several Chilean cities, including [Arica](/source/Arica), [Iquique](/source/Iquique), [La Serena](/source/La_Serena%2C_Chile), [Los Andes](/source/Los_Andes%2C_Chile), [Talca](/source/Talca), [Valdivia](/source/Valdivia), and [Punta Arenas](/source/Punta_Arenas), as well as in [Buenos Aires](/source/Buenos_Aires) and [Mendoza](/source/Mendoza%2C_Argentina) in Argentina.<ref name="bcn" />

== Political career ==
Kast’s political and public activity has been linked to the Fundación Miguel Kast, through which he has promoted initiatives such as the Institute for Social Innovation.<ref name="bcn" />

In 2017, he joined the political project of the [Political Evolution Party (Evópoli)](/source/Ev%C3%B3poli), running as an independent candidate within the party’s list for a seat in the [Chamber of Deputies of Chile](/source/Chamber_of_Deputies_of_Chile) representing the 6th electoral district of the [Valparaíso Region](/source/Valpara%C3%ADso_Region). He was elected after obtaining 28,465 votes, equivalent to 8.96% of the total valid votes.<ref name="bcn" />

In the internal elections of Evópoli held on August 15 and 16, 2020, he was elected Vice President of the party for the 2020–2022 term.<ref name="bcn" />

For the parliamentary elections held on November 21, 2021, Kast sought re-election as a candidate of Evópoli within the Chile Podemos Más coalition, this time representing the 10th electoral district of the [Santiago Metropolitan Region](/source/Santiago_Metropolitan_Region). He obtained 15,666 votes, equivalent to 3.43% of the total valid votes, and was not re-elected.<ref name="bcn" />
