***PTF-26*** is a [PTF boat](/source/PTF_boat), (Swift boat), [museum ship](/source/Museum_ship) at the Maritime Pastoral Training Foundation in [Golconda, Illinois](/source/Golconda%2C_Illinois), a [*Osprey* class](/source/United_States_Osprey-class_patrol_boat). *PTF-26* is referred to as "The Last American PT Boat".[4][5][6] *PTF-26* was built in 1968 by the [Sewart Seacraft](/source/Swiftships) now know as Swiftships in [Berwick, Louisiana](/source/Berwick%2C_Louisiana) . *PTF-26* is small river [gunboat](/source/Gunboat) built with an [aluminium](/source/Aluminium) hull. The [United States Navy](/source/United_States_Navy) used *PTF-26* in the [Vietnam War](/source/Vietnam_War) from 1968 to 1971 in the [Brown-water navy](/source/Brown-water_navy). *PTF-26* has a top speed of speed of 40 [knots](/source/Knot_(unit)) (74 km/h; 46 mph) knots. She is an *Osprey*-class PTF boat and is 95 ft (29 m) long. PTF boats replaced the wooden World War II [PT boats](/source/PT_boat). Four new PTF boats were delivered to the Military Assistance Group (MACV) at [Da Nang](/source/Da_Nang), Vietnam in 1968, *PTF-26* was one of the four boats. The four boats were armed with a [40 mm Bofors cannon](/source/Bofors_40_mm_L%2F60_gun) aft, two [Oerlikon 20 mm cannon](/source/Oerlikon_20_mm_cannon) forward, two [.50-caliber Browning machine guns](/source/M2_Browning) and on the foredeck, an [81 mm mortar](/source/L16_81mm_mortar). From 1971 to 1990 she was used by the US Navy at [Naval Amphibious Base Coronado](/source/Naval_Amphibious_Base_Coronado) and [Pacific Missile Test Center](/source/Pacific_Missile_Test_Center), [Port Hueneme](/source/Port_Hueneme%2C_California)[7][8][9] From November 1997 to June 2020 she was with Liberty Maritime Inc. as a [Sea Scout](/source/Sea_Scouts_(Boy_Scouts_of_America)) training ship at [Sacramento, California](/source/Sacramento%2C_California).[10][11] On her way to Maritime Pastoral Training Foundation she stopped at [Morro Bay, California](/source/Morro_Bay%2C_California) departing December 14, 2023, then on December 16, the [Maritime Museum of San Diego](/source/Maritime_Museum_of_San_Diego), then the [National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico](/source/National_Maritime_Museum_of_the_Gulf_of_Mexico) and then [Pickwick Lake](/source/Pickwick_Lake) of the [Tennessee Valley Authority](/source/Tennessee_Valley_Authority) in July 2024. She is now at Golconda, Illinois where *PTF-26* is the first historic naval ship in southern Illinois. At Golconda she is operated by [Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps](/source/Junior_Reserve_Officers'_Training_Corps) Cadets, [Sea cadets](/source/Sea_cadets) and Sea Scouts.[12]

## *Osprey*-class boats

The four *Osprey*-class wooden hull [PTF boats](/source/PTF_boat) served in the Vietnam War starting in 1968, after being built at [Sewart Seacraft](/source/Sewart_Seacraft) (now Swiftships) in [Berwick, Louisiana](/source/Berwick%2C_Louisiana):[13] *PTF 26* now a museum ship at Golconda, Illinois, still in PTF configuration.[14]
