It is situated between the [Manila–Cavite Expressway](/source/Manila%E2%80%93Cavite_Expressway) (CAVITEX) and Kennedy Road. It is the third station for trains headed to [Fernando Poe Jr.](/source/Fernando_Poe_Jr._station), the twenty-third station for trains headed to [Dr. Santos](/source/Dr._Santos_station), and is one of the five LRT-1 stations in [Parañaque](/source/Para%C3%B1aque); the others are [Redemptorist–Aseana](/source/Redemptorist%E2%80%93Aseana_station), [MIA Road](/source/MIA_Road_station), [Ninoy Aquino Avenue](/source/Ninoy_Aquino_Avenue_station), and [Dr. Santos](/source/Dr._Santos_station).

The station, known as Asia World station (after the [Asiaworld](/source/Bay_City%2C_Metro_Manila) development, its location) during its inception, was first planned as part of the [Line 1 South Extension](/source/LRT_Line_1_(Metro_Manila)) plan, which calls for a mostly elevated extension of approximately {{convert|11.7|km|mi|sp=us}}. The extension will have 8 passenger stations with an option for 2 future stations ([Manuyo Uno](/source/Manuyo_Uno_station) and [Talaba](/source/Talaba_station)).<ref name="south">{{cite web |url=http://www.lrta.gov.ph/projects/proj_l1southex.htm |title=Project Update: The Line 1 South Extension Project |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060430014927/http://www.lrta.gov.ph/projects/proj_l1southex.htm |archive-date=April 30, 2006 |publisher=[Light Rail Transit Authority](/source/Light_Rail_Transit_Authority) |access-date=March 25, 2012}}</ref> The project was first approved on August 25, 2000, and the implementing agreement for the project was approved on January 22, 2002.<ref name="extnStartConstruction" /> However, construction for the extension was repeatedly delayed until the project was shelved years later.

The plans for the southern extension project were restarted as early as 2012 during the [Benigno Aquino III administration](/source/Presidency_of_Benigno_Aquino_III) and was expected to begin construction in 2014, but was delayed due to right of way issues. Nearing the end of the construction, the station was officially renamed as PITX station, after the nearby [Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange](/source/Para%C3%B1aque_Integrated_Terminal_Exchange) (PITX), which was opened in 2018, although the old name is still shown on signages at the station.<ref name=":0" />

==Station layout==

PITX station is accessible from Kennedy Road at ground level or from the third level of PITX, which is linked to the west and east platform. The two platforms are connected by a pedestrian overpass crossing the two tracks inside the station, allowing commuters to catch a train going in the opposite direction without paying a new fare. Staircases, escalators (also installed at other LRT-1 extension stations), and elevators connect the platforms to the concourse on the ground level. Ticket booths are located on the ground-level concourse and next to the east and west platforms, respectively.
