**Owston Woods** is a 139.6 hectares (345 acres) biological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) south of [Owston](/source/Owston_and_Newbold) in [Leicestershire](/source/Leicestershire).[1][2]

The dominant trees in these woods on [Jurassic](/source/Jurassic) and glacial clay are [ash](/source/Fraxinus_excelsior) and [hazel](/source/Corylus_avellana). There are diverse moths, beetles and other insects, including some rare species, and there is also a variety of birds and small mammals.[3]

A public footpath goes through the woods.
