**Overwolf Ltd.** (Hebrew: **אוברוולף בע"מ[1]**) is an Israeli [software](/source/Software) company, creating software designed to help [developers](/source/Programmer) create extensions for [video games](/source/Video_games), which are then offered to users through Overwolf's *App Store*.

## History

Overwolf was founded on 29 September 2009[1] by Uri Marchand, Gil Or, Alon Rabinowitz and Nir Finkelstein with a cash seed investment from [Joseph (Yossi) Vardi](/source/Joseph_Vardi). In September 2013, another $5.3 million was invested by Venture Capital Marker LLC.[2] At the start of their Beta release in 2011,[3] Overwolf had 50,000 users. As of early 2013, Overwolf had reached 1 million users.[4] In September 2012, Overwolf opened its [Software Development Kit](/source/Software_development_kit).[5]

In June 2020, Overwolf acquired [CurseForge](/source/Curse_LLC), for an undisclosed sum,[6] from [Twitch](/source/Twitch_(service)).[7]

In November 2021, Overwolf acquired MCPEDL, a major platform for Minecraft Bedrock Edition add-ons.[8]

In March 2022, Overwolf acquired the [UK](/source/United_Kingdom)-based payment platform software specialist Tebex in a $29 million deal.[9]

In May 2024, Overwolf acquired NitroPay, a gaming ad tech company, for an undisclosed eight-figure sum. NitroPay was subsequently rebranded to Nitro.[10]
