The following is the discography of [Overkill](/source/Overkill_(band)), an American [thrash metal](/source/Thrash_metal) band formed in 1980 in [New Jersey](/source/New_Jersey). The band has released twenty [studio albums](/source/Studio_album), three [live albums](/source/Live_album), two [compilation albums](/source/Compilation_album), three [EPs](/source/Extended_play) and one [box set](/source/Box_set). They were one of the early thrash metal bands to sign to a major label ([Atlantic Records](/source/Atlantic_Records) in 1986), and rose to fame as part of the genre's movement of the late 1980s, along with bands such as [Anthrax](/source/Anthrax_(American_band)), [Exodus](/source/Exodus_(band)), [Metallica](/source/Metallica), [Megadeth](/source/Megadeth), [Slayer](/source/Slayer) and [Testament](/source/Testament_(band)). In terms of chart positions and sales, the band's most successful records are *[Under the Influence](/source/Under_the_Influence_(Overkill_album))* (1988), *[The Years of Decay](/source/The_Years_of_Decay)* (1989), *[I Hear Black](/source/I_Hear_Black)* (1993), *[The Electric Age](/source/The_Electric_Age)* (2012), and *[White Devil Armory](/source/White_Devil_Armory)* (2014), which debuted at No. 142, No. 155, No. 122, No. 77, and No. 31 respectively on the [*Billboard* 200](/source/Billboard_200) chart.[1] As of 2006, Overkill has sold over 625,000 albums in the US since the beginning of the [SoundScan](/source/Luminate_(company)) era, and over 5 million records worldwide throughout their career.[2][failed verification]
