'''Over Whitacre''' is a village and [civil parish](/source/civil_parish) containing the [hamlets](/source/hamlet_(place)) of Botts Green, Furnace End and Monwode Lea in [North Warwickshire](/source/North_Warwickshire), [Warwickshire](/source/Warwickshire), [England](/source/England). The population of the parish at the [2021 census](/source/United_Kingdom_Census_2021) was 407.<ref name="CP">{{cite web |title=Over Whitacre  Parish in West Midlands |url=https://www.citypopulation.de/en/uk/westmidlands/admin/north_warwickshire/E04009653__over_whitacre/ |publisher=City Population |access-date=7 May 2026}}</ref> It is located near other villages, [Nether Whitacre](/source/Nether_Whitacre) and [Whitacre Heath](/source/Whitacre_Heath), although Whitacre heath is actually the heath of Nether Whitacre and not a separate [parish](/source/parish). The nearby hamlet of [Furnace End](/source/Furnace_End) probably derives its name from [iron](/source/iron) smelting furnaces owned by the Jennens of Nether Whitacre. The village today is mainly residential and agricultural, but there is some light industry.

The village appears in the [Domesday Book](/source/Domesday_Book) so it was already established in the [Saxon](/source/Saxon_people) period. However, objects belonging to much earlier [Neolithic](/source/Neolithic) and [Bronze Age](/source/Bronze_Age) times have been found in the soil.  Whitacre was spelt then as 'Witecore' which means white field.  The area has many stone-built buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries.  The 18th-century [parish church](/source/parish_church) of [St Leonard](/source/St_Leonard)s is situated on the main road between [Coventry](/source/Coventry) and [Tamworth](/source/Tamworth%2C_Staffordshire) (the B4098 or old [A47](/source/A47_road)). It is of classical Italian style, built in 1766 on the site of an earlier foundation. Two of the oldest buildings in the [parish](/source/parish) are Barbers Farm, dating to 1586 and The Bothie at Botts Green.
