It is represented by the single species '''''Ovalidota milleri'''''.<ref name=Pawson2004/><ref name=WoRMS2024/> It has been found at [bathyal depths](/source/Bathypelagic_zone) of 366-414 m at two localities in the [Caribbean](/source/Caribbean), near [St. Vincent](/source/Saint_Vincent_(Saint_Vincent_and_the_Grenadines)) and at [Grand Cayman Island](/source/Grand_Cayman). It is characterized by an egg-shaped body, a trait not found in any other member of the order [Apodida](/source/Apodida), at the moment of its description.<ref name=Pawson2004/>
