'''Outlane''' is a village in [Kirklees](/source/Kirklees), [West Yorkshire](/source/West_Yorkshire), England, situated approximately {{Convert|2.5|mi|km|0}} south-west of [Elland](/source/Elland), {{Convert|3.7|mi|km|0}} north-west of [Huddersfield](/source/Huddersfield) and {{Convert|4.5|mi|km|0}} south of [Halifax](/source/Halifax%2C_West_Yorkshire).

The village is situated next to the [M62 motorway](/source/M62_motorway) near Junction 23 and straddles the [Kirklees](/source/Kirklees) and [Calderdale](/source/Calderdale) borough boundary; while the bulk of the village is within Kirklees, the north-western part of the village is part of Calderdale and the [Stainland & District](/source/Stainland) civil parish. The [A640](/source/A640_road) Huddersfield to [Rochdale](/source/Rochdale) (New Hey Road) road passes through the village.

Outlane Cricket Club, who currently play in the [Halifax Cricket League](/source/Halifax_Cricket_League), objected to the building of the motorway in the 1960s as it would go through their ground. However the [Ministry of Transport](/source/Department_for_Transport) turned down the objection. Outlane has a golf course that borders the motorway.
