***Our Man in Tehran*** is a 2013 Canadian documentary film, profiling the role of [Kenneth D. Taylor](/source/Kenneth_D._Taylor), Canada's ambassador to [Iran](/source/Iran) in the 1970s, in helping six American hostages escape from Iran during the [Iran hostage crisis](/source/Iran_hostage_crisis) of 1979-1980 by engineering the [Canadian Caper](/source/Canadian_Caper).[1]

The film premiered at the [2013 Toronto International Film Festival](/source/2013_Toronto_International_Film_Festival),[1] but was distributed to general audiences as a television film on [The Movie Network](/source/The_Movie_Network).[2] It was released in the United States on May 15, 2015.[3]

Several other political, journalism and diplomatic personalities involved in the events also appear in the film, including [Joe Clark](/source/Joe_Clark), [Flora MacDonald](/source/Flora_MacDonald_(politician)), Robert Anders, William Daugherty, Carole Jerome, [Tony Mendez](/source/Tony_Mendez), [Joe Schlesinger](/source/Joe_Schlesinger), Zena Sheardown and [Gary Sick](/source/Gary_Sick).

The film won five [Canadian Screen Awards](/source/Canadian_Screen_Awards) at the [3rd Canadian Screen Awards](/source/3rd_Canadian_Screen_Awards) in 2015, winning Best Documentary Program, Best Direction in a Documentary or Factual Series (Drew Taylor, [Larry Weinstein](/source/Larry_Weinstein)), Best Photography in a Documentary Program or Factual Series ([John Minh Tran](/source/John_Minh_Tran)), Best Picture Editing in a Documentary Program or Factual Series ([Steve Weslak](/source/Steve_Weslak)) and Best Sound in a Documentary, Factual or Lifestyle Program or Series (Martin Lee, [David McCallum](/source/David_McCallum_(sound_editor)), Sanjay Mehta, Brennan Mercer, [Jane Tattersall](/source/Jane_Tattersall)).[4]

The film was adapted in part from cowriter Robert Wright's 2010 book *Our Man in Tehran*.[5]
