The ***eoeungeum*** ([RR](/source/Revised_Romanization_of_Korean)) or ***ŏŭn-gŭm*** ([MR](/source/McCune%E2%80%93Reischauer)) (Korean: 어은금) is a stringed musical instrument invented and played in [North Korea](/source/North_Korea). It is between the size of a [mandolin](/source/Mandolin) and a mandola, and commonly has four single strings. It is a development in the 1960's from the traditional Korean instrument called [*hyangbipa*](/source/Bipa).[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
