Barro represented the [Burkina Faso national team](/source/Burkina_Faso_national_football_team) at the [1998 African Nations Cup](/source/1998_African_Nations_Cup) tournament, which finished fourth after losing to [Congo DR](/source/Congo_DR_national_football_team) on penalties in the bronze final. He was later part of the [2000](/source/2000_African_Nations_Cup) and [2002 African Nations Cup](/source/2002_African_Nations_Cup) teams, which finished bottom of their respective groups in the first round of competition, thus failing to secure qualification for the quarter-finals.
