It is a part of the municipality of [Borsele](/source/Borsele), and lies about 19 km southeast of [Middelburg](/source/Middelburg%2C_Zeeland). == History == The village was first mentioned in 1312 as "in Badickendorpe ende in Oudelant aen die zuudtzyde", and means "old land", because it was not flooded in 1014.{{cite web|url=https://etymologiebank.nl/trefwoord/oudelande |title=Oudelande - (geografische naam) |website=Etymologiebank |access-date=19 April 2022 |language=nl}} Oudelande is a church village which developed on a ridge which was elevated to a ''[terp](/source/terp)'' (artificial living hill) in the 13th century. The large tower dates from the 14th century. In 1769, a part of the church was demolished and rebuilt.
