## Career

Lloyd started his acting career by appearing in television commercials.[3] He was cast as David in the 2008 BBC drama, *[Hancock and Joan](/source/Hancock_and_Joan)*.[4] In November 2008, a reporter for the *[Eastbourne Herald](/source/Eastbourne_Herald)* announced Lloyd had been cast in a [Disney Channel](/source/Disney_Channel_(UK_and_Ireland)) production called *Oscar and Michael's Phineas and Ferb Fan Club Show* alongside Michael Selwood.[1] The show "pays homage" to the animated comedy series *[Phineas and Ferb](/source/Phineas_and_Ferb)* and sees Lloyd and Selwood solve everyday problems.[1] *Oscar and Michael's Phineas and Ferb Fan Club Show* began airing from 3 November 2008.[1] It was later renewed for a second series, which began airing on 10 April 2009.[3]

On 19 January 2009, Kris Green of [Digital Spy](/source/Digital_Spy) reported Lloyd had been cast as [Will Wylde](/source/Will_Wylde) in the [ITV](/source/ITV_(TV_network)) soap opera *[Emmerdale](/source/Emmerdale)*.[5] Lloyd also appeared in season two of *[Lark Rise to Candleford](/source/Lark_Rise_to_Candleford_(TV_series))* as Sydney, the studious, ten-year-old son of James Dowland.[6] For his portrayal of Will, Lloyd received a nomination for Best Young Actor at the 2010 [*Inside Soap* Awards](/source/Inside_Soap_Awards).[7] In August 2010, it was announced Lloyd would be departing *Emmerdale*. The actor made the decision to leave on his own accord.[8]

2011 saw Lloyd feature in "[The Curse of the Black Spot](/source/The_Curse_of_the_Black_Spot)", the third episode of the sixth series of *[Doctor Who](/source/Doctor_Who)*. Lloyd played the role of Toby, the son of a pirate captain played by [Hugh Bonneville](/source/Hugh_Bonneville).[9] Lloyd later featured as Toby in the seventh episode, "[A Good Man Goes to War](/source/A_Good_Man_Goes_to_War)".[10] From January 2012, Lloyd began playing Ryan in children's television series *[4 O'Clock Club](/source/4_O'Clock_Club)*.[11] The actor appeared as Gabriel in the BBC drama, *One Night*, which began airing in March 2012.[12] From April 2012, Lloyd began filming a role for the BBC drama, *[Blandings](/source/Blandings_(TV_series))*.[13]

In 2023, Lloyd was confirmed to be playing [Jim Hopper](/source/Jim_Hopper_(Stranger_Things)) in the *[Stranger Things](/source/Stranger_Things)* prequel stage play *[Stranger Things: The First Shadow](/source/Stranger_Things%3A_The_First_Shadow)*.
