ORYX GTL Limited Founder QatarEnergy Sasol Middle East & India Key people Sh. Thani T Al Thani (CEO)

**ORYX GTL** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic): أوريكس جي تي إل) is a [synthetic fuel](/source/Synthetic_fuel) plant based in [Ras Laffan Industrial City](/source/Ras_Laffan_Industrial_City), [Qatar](/source/Qatar), owned by [QatarEnergy](/source/QatarEnergy) (51%) and [Sasol](/source/Sasol) (49%). It uses [gas to liquids](/source/Gas_to_liquids) (GTL) technology for converting [natural gas](/source/Natural_gas) into liquid [petroleum](/source/Petroleum) products. The capacity of Oryx GTL in 2007 was 34 thousand barrels per day (5.4×10^3 m3/d) of oil.[1]

## History

Construction of the plant started in 2003. The plant began production in 2007.[2]
