The **Ortstock** is a [mountain](/source/Mountain) in the [Schwyzer Alps](/source/Schwyzer_Alps), located at an elevation of 2,717 m (8,914 ft) on the border between the cantons of [Schwyz](/source/Canton_of_Schwyz) and [Glarus](/source/Canton_of_Glarus), Switzerland. The mountain lies in the municipalities of [Muotathal](/source/Muotathal), in the canton of Schwyz, and [Glarus Süd](/source/Glarus_S%C3%BCd), in the canton of Glarus.[2]

It overlooks [Braunwald](/source/Braunwald%2C_Glarus) and [Linthal](/source/Linthal%2C_Glarus) on its east side, while the west side overlooks the high valley of [Glattalp](/source/Glattalp).[2] There are no glaciers surrounding the Ortstock, although a few [névés](/source/N%C3%A9v%C3%A9) can be found on its northern side. The north and south faces are very steep but experienced hikers can reach the summit via a trail on its less steep western flank.
