# Orocrambus simplex

***Orocrambus simplex*** is a [moth](/source/Moth) in the family [Crambidae](/source/Crambidae).[1] It was described by [Arthur Gardiner Butler](/source/Arthur_Gardiner_Butler) in 1877.[2][3] It is [endemic](/source/Endemism) to [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand),[4] where it has been recorded in [Westland](/source/Westland_Province), [Nelson Province](/source/Nelson_Province), the central part of the [North Island](/source/North_Island) and the coastal area of southern [Hawkes Bay](/source/Hawkes_Bay).[5] The habitat where this species lives consists of [tussock grasslands](/source/Tussock_grasslands_of_New_Zealand).[5]

The [wingspan](/source/Wingspan) is 25–33 mm.[5] Adults have been recorded on wing from November to February.[5]

Larvae have been reared from *[Chionochloa rubra](/source/Chionochloa_rubra)*, *[Poa cita](/source/Poa_cita)* (formerly *Poa caespitosa*) and *[Poa annua](/source/Poa_annua)*.[6]
