*Oreohelix* is the [type genus](/source/Type_genus) for the family Oreohelicidae.

There are about 79 species in this genus.[2] They are native to the western United States, especially the [Rocky Mountains](/source/Rocky_Mountains), [Great Basin](/source/Great_Basin), and [Southwest](/source/Southwestern_United_States).[3]
