***Orconectes inermis***, the **Northern cave crayfish**, is a [troglomorphic](/source/Troglomorphic) [freshwater crayfish](/source/Freshwater_crayfish) native to [Kentucky](/source/Kentucky) and [Indiana](/source/Indiana) in the United States.[1][2]

There are two sub-species described;

- *[Orconectes inermis inermis](/source/Orconectes_inermis_inermis)*, known as **ghost grayfish**

- *[Orconectes inermis testii](/source/Orconectes_inermis_testii)* (Hay, 1891), known as **unarmed crayfish**

The two sub-species are known to form [intergrades](/source/Intergradation) in the range where they overlap.[2]
