The **Opernplatz** (Opera Square) is a central [city square](/source/City_square) in [Frankfurt](/source/Frankfurt), [Germany](/source/Germany), located in the district of [Innenstadt](/source/Innenstadt_(Frankfurt_am_Main)) (Inner City) and within the [central business district](/source/Central_business_district) known as the [Bankenviertel](/source/Bankenviertel) (Banking District). The Opernplatz is the most central square of the Bankenviertel. It is named for the [Alte Oper](/source/Alte_Oper) (Old Opera) building, which today serves as a [concert hall](/source/Concert_hall).[1] The [Sofitel Frankfurt Opera](/source/Sofitel_Frankfurt_Opera) hotel is located at Opernplatz 14. The [Opera Quarter](/source/Opera_Quarter_(Frankfurt)) with some of Germany's most well known luxury shopping streets is located to the east of Opernplatz.
