{{Short description|German cover operation in WW2}}
{{for|the British counter-insurgency operation|Operation Shark}}
{{Campaignbox Western Front (World War II)}}
'''Operation Haifisch''' ('''''Shark''''') was a [German](/source/Nazi_Germany) codename for the cover operation against the [United Kingdom](/source/United_Kingdom) in [World War II](/source/World_War_II), intended (like [Operation Harpune](/source/Operation_Harpune)) to conceal preparations for [Operation Barbarossa](/source/Operation_Barbarossa), the invasion of the Soviet Union.

Elaborated by [Wilhelm Keitel](/source/Wilhelm_Keitel) and designated to begin in April 1941, the aim was to strike at [England](/source/England)'s southern coast in four places between [Folkestone](/source/Folkestone) and [Worthing](/source/Worthing). The [Kriegsmarine](/source/Kriegsmarine)'s main task was to ferry the invasion forces after loading them at major ports between [Cherbourg](/source/Cherbourg) and [Rotterdam](/source/Rotterdam).<ref>{{Cite journal |last=Wilt |first=Alan F. |date=1974 |title="Shark" and 'Harpoon": German Cover Operations Against Great Britain in 1941 |url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/1987322 |journal=Military Affairs |volume=38 |issue=1 |pages=1–4 |doi=10.2307/1987322 |jstor=1987322 |issn=0026-3931|url-access=subscription }}</ref>
