Its natural [habitat](/source/habitat)s are subtropical or tropical dry [forest](/source/forest)s and subtropical or tropical [swamp](/source/swamp)s. It was classified as "Critically Endangered" in 2021 by the [IUCN](/source/IUCN) . Its confirmed range extends only over small islands, all of which are near to sea level. It is threatened by [rising sea levels](/source/sea_level_rise).
