One Man Star Wars Trilogy Written by Charles Ross Based on Star Wars Genre parody

***One Man Star Wars Trilogy*** is an [Off-Broadway](/source/Off-Broadway) play based on the original *[Star Wars](/source/Star_Wars)* trilogy, written and performed by [Canadian](/source/Canadians) [actor](/source/Actor) [Charles Ross](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Charles_Ross_(actor)&action=edit&redlink=1), and directed by [TJ Dawe](/source/TJ_Dawe). It premiered in [Toronto, Ontario](/source/Toronto), in January 2001. [1] [2]

## One man play

First performed at the Pavilion Theatre in [Kamloops](/source/Kamloops), [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), Canada, the play runs for 75 minutes (although earlier incarnations lasted for one hour) and has only one cast member. Ross plays all the characters, recreates the effects, and sings from the [John Williams](/source/John_Williams) score. The inspiration came from playing a [frisbee](/source/Frisbee) game with friends, in which the thrower would say a line from the movies, and the catcher had to say the following line while catching.[3]

The show is licensed by [Lucasfilm](/source/Lucasfilm).[4] Charles Ross has also used the concept with other film trilogies, including "One Man [Lord of the Rings](/source/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_(film_series))", which was performed from 2004 to 2005.[2] Ross was asked to stop performing by the [intellectual property](/source/Intellectual_property) holder.[2] The legal issues have since been resolved, and he performed the "One Man Lord of the Rings" show at the 2009 [Edinburgh Fringe](/source/Edinburgh_Fringe).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

Ross has reportedly seen the original trilogy over 400 times.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
