Amid that group's dissolution in 2014, Sapphire relocated to the town of [Joshua Tree, California](/source/Joshua_Tree,_California) in the [Mojave Desert](/source/Mojave_Desert), where she recorded the EP *Sibling Rivalry* as AnnaChristie in 2015. Sapphire then moved again to [Portland, Oregon](/source/Portland,_Oregon), and in early 2020, now officially billed as AC Sapphire, she announced the EP's forthcoming release.[1] *Omni Present* was [produced](/source/Record_producer) by Matt Adams at Arroyo Seco Studio and Harlan Steinberger at Hen House Studios in [Venice](/source/Venice,_Los_Angeles), California. It was [mixed](/source/Mixing_engineer) and [mastered](/source/Mastering_(audio)) by Robert Harder at On The Rocks Studios in Joshua Tree and [Mike Coykendal](/source/Mike_Coykendall) at Blue Room Studios in Portland.[2] ## Composition Sapphire's solo music was shaped by her move to the [Mojave Desert](/source/Mojave_Desert) and developed a more ethereal quality.[1][3] On the EP, opener "Red Sands" "marries the vast expanses of [Neko Case](/source/Neko_Case) with the stomping fire of early [Velvet Underground](/source/The_Velvet_Underground)",[4] "Mini Tour" features a [lo-fi](/source/Lo-fi_music) sound reminiscent of [Liz Phair](/source/Liz_Phair) and the [Violent Femmes](/source/Violent_Femmes) that "brings to mind an [Astro van](/source/Chevrolet_Astro) full of guitars heading full speed across the sand",[1][4] and "Pictures of Yourself" and "Thirsty Willow" emphasize a rock sound.[4] Lyrically, "Mini Tour" describes her first tour with Sisters3 and a breakup she experienced during it,[1][5] while "Desert Stars" was written about a deceased friend.[3][6][5] ## Release and promotion "Picture of Yourself" was originally released as a standalone single on September 7, 2018.[7] The EP was officially announced in January 2020, and the lead single "Mini Tour" simultaneously premiered via the website *Audiofemme.*[1] A second single, "Desert Stars", was released on February 18 with an accompanying music video.[3][6] The EP was released on February 28, 2020 by GrindEthos Records, with an early premiere via *[PopMatters](/source/PopMatters)*.[4] Sapphire donated 10% of the record's proceeds to the [Rock and Roll Camp for Girls](/source/Rock_and_Roll_Camp_for_Girls),[8] where she had volunteered as a vocal coach.[4][9] ## Reception *Omni Present* received positive attention from blogs and media outlets. *[PopMatters](/source/PopMatters)* wrote that the record "never disappoints in its musical or emotional range."[4] *[Refinery29](/source/Refinery29)* included "Desert Stars" in their list of "New Music To Know This Week", with Courtney E.
