The **Omaruru River** is a major river crossing the [Erongo Region](/source/Erongo_Region) of western central [Namibia](/source/Namibia) from East to West. It originates in the [Etjo Mountains](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mount_Etjo&action=edit&redlink=1), crosses the town of [Omaruru](/source/Omaruru%2C_Namibia) and the village of [Okombahe](/source/Okombahe), and reaches the sea a few kilometers north of [Henties Bay](/source/Henties_Bay).[1] Inflows of the Omaruru are [Otjimakuru](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Otjimakuru_River&action=edit&redlink=1), [Goab](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Goab_River&action=edit&redlink=1), [Spitzkop](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Spitzkop_River&action=edit&redlink=1), [Leeu](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Leeu_River,_Namibia&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Okandjou](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Okandjou_River&action=edit&redlink=1).[2]

The Omaruru is an [ephemeral](/source/Ephemeral) river with a mean run-off of roughly 40 million cubic metres per annum. Its [palaeochannels](/source/Palaeochannel) form an underground [delta](/source/River_delta) of the [Namib Desert](/source/Namib_Desert).[1] Its [catchment area](/source/Catchment_area) (including its tributaries) is estimated to be between 11,579[3] and 13,100 square kilometres (5,100 sq mi).[2]
