# Oluf Kalips

**Oluf Petersson Kalips** (c.1520–1592) was a Norwegian nobleman, [landowner](/source/Landowner) and [Chancellor of Norway](/source/Chancellor_of_Norway). [1]

He was knighted in 1550 and served as [Chancellor of Norway](/source/Chancellor_of_Norway) (*Norges rikes kansler*) in the years 1565–1567. During the Nordic [Seven Years' War](/source/Seven_Years'_War) (1563–1570) between [Denmark-Norway](/source/Denmark-Norway) and [Sweden](/source/Sweden), he held various assignments within the [Royal Danish-Norwegian Navy](/source/Royal_Norwegian_Navy).[2] He was a notable landowner and held numerous aristocratic estates, including [Thorsø](/source/Thors%C3%B8,_Norway) in [Østfold](/source/%C3%98stfold) and [Arneberg](/source/Arneberg) at [Åsnes](/source/%C3%85snes) in [Hedmark](/source/Hedmark).
