==Early life  and education==
Finn was born on November 2, 1949, in [Niš](/source/Ni%C5%A1), [Yugoslavia](/source/Yugoslavia) (now [Serbia](/source/Serbia)). She grew up and went to high school in [Niš](/source/Ni%C5%A1), which is south of [Belgrade](/source/Belgrade) in what is now [Serbia](/source/Serbia). She moved to the [United States](/source/United_States) when she was 18 years old, having married an American. In [Puerto Rico](/source/Puerto_Rico), she earned her [Bachelor of Science](/source/Bachelor_of_Science) in [Biology](/source/Biology) from the [Inter American University of Puerto Rico](/source/Interamerican_University_of_Puerto_Rico) at San Juan. At the [IAUPR](/source/Interamerican_University_of_Puerto_Rico), she was one of Dr. Alexander Acholonu's students. She published her first paper as an undergraduate, about completing a life cycle of a parasite.<ref Name= ani />

When her husband was discharged into the reserves they moved to [Stanford, California](/source/Stanford%2C_California). Finn graduated with a [Doctor of Philosophy](/source/Doctor_of_Philosophy) in [Immunology](/source/Immunology) from [Stanford University](/source/Stanford_University) in 1980 and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the university in 1982.<ref name=ani /><ref name="auto"/>
