'''Ola Isene''' (2 June 1898 – 6 May 1973) was a Norwegian [opera](/source/opera) singer (baritone) and actor.

Isene was born in [Rødenes](/source/R%C3%B8denes) and studied at the [Musikkonservatoriet](/source/Musikkonservatoriet) in [Kristiania](/source/Oslo).  He made his professional debut at the Mayol-teatret in 1923. His operatic roles were varied, among them Beckmesser in ''[Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg](/source/Die_Meistersinger_von_N%C3%BCrnberg)'', Scarpia in ''[Tosca](/source/Tosca)'', and Amonasro in ''[Aïda](/source/A%C3%AFda)'' – most of them at the [Nationaltheatret](/source/Nationaltheatret), which at the time had opera on its programme. He took part in many tours and also appeared in operettas, including as Schubert in  ''[Jomfruburet](/source/Jomfruburet)''. In 1929, he sang Al Jolson's parts from [The Jazz Singer](/source/The_Jazz_Singer) when it was presented as a silent film in Sweden,<ref>{{Cite journal|last=Natzen|first=Christopher|date=Fall 2011|title="Have you hear it yet?" Isene also played the title role in the three criminal radio plays ''[Inspektør Scott på farten](/source/Inspekt%C3%B8r_Scott_p%C3%A5_farten)'' by [John P. Wynn](/source/John_P._Wynn), which were broadcast by [Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation](/source/Norwegian_Broadcasting_Corporation) radio in 1960 and 1961.

Ola Isene was from 1926 married to the singer and [voice teacher](/source/voice_teacher) Haldis Ingebjart Isene (1891–1978). His brother Torbjørn was a great-grandfather to [discus thrower](/source/discus_thrower) [Ola Stunes Isene](/source/Ola_Stunes_Isene).
