# Offleben

**Offleben** is a former [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_Germany) in the [district of Helmstedt](/source/Helmstedt_(district)), in [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany). It was Incorporated into the newly formed [Büddenstedt](/source/B%C3%BCddenstedt) on 1 March 1974.[1] Since 1 July 2017 Offleben is part of [Helmstedt](/source/Helmstedt).[2] Offleben is an *Ortschaft* (municipal division) of the town Helmstedt, and includes the villages Offleben, Reinsdorf and Hohnsleben.[3]

## History

It is estimated that Offleben was established between 822 and 875 as „Uffenleva“. First records are from 1151. [4]
