***Office Party***, also known as ***Hostile Takeover*** in some releases, is a Canadian thriller film directed by [George Mihalka](/source/George_Mihalka) and released in 1988.[1] An adaptation of Michael A. Gilbert's 1981 crime novel *Office Party*, the film stars [David Warner](/source/David_Warner_(actor)) as Eugene Brackin, a repressed accountant who suddenly takes three of his coworkers [hostage](/source/Hostage) with no apparent motive or demands.[2]

The film also stars [Michael Ironside](/source/Michael_Ironside), [Kate Vernon](/source/Kate_Vernon) and [Jayne Eastwood](/source/Jayne_Eastwood) as the hostages.

[Billy Bryans](/source/Billy_Bryans) and [Aaron Davis](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aaron_Davis_(composer)&action=edit&redlink=1) received a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Original Score](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Original_Score) at the [10th Genie Awards](/source/10th_Genie_Awards).[3]
