Ancient Athenian deme

**Oea** or **Oia** ([Ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greek_language): Ὀία) or **Oee** or **Oie** (Οἴη) or **Oe** (Ὄη or Ὀή) was a [deme](/source/Deme) of [ancient Athens](/source/Ancient_Athens).

The location of Oea has been a matter of debate, with some situating it above the Pythium, to the west of [Mount Aegaleos](/source/Mount_Aegaleos), to the north of the pass of [Poecilum](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Poecilum&action=edit&redlink=1),[1] and recent work putting the site northeast of [Aspropyrgos](/source/Aspropyrgos).[2][3]

In the Boule of 500, Oea held six seats, and the deme seems to have maintained this rough scale into the Roman period.[4]
