# Odisheim

**Odisheim** (in [High German](/source/High_German), in [Low Saxon](/source/Northern_Low_Saxon) *Godshem*; literally in English: *Wotan's home* or *God's home*, respectively) is a municipality in the [district of Cuxhaven](/source/Cuxhaven_(district)), in [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany).

Odisheim belongs to the [Land of Hadeln](/source/Land_of_Hadeln), first an exclave of the [younger Duchy of Saxony](/source/Saxe-Wittenberg) and after its de facto dynastic partition in 1296 of the [Duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg](/source/Saxe-Lauenburg), established de jure in 1260. In 1728 Emperor [Charles VI](/source/Charles_VI,_Holy_Roman_Emperor) enfeoffed the [George II Augustus](/source/George_II_of_Great_Britain) and his [House of Hanover](/source/House_of_Hanover) in [personal union](/source/Personal_union) with the reverted fief of Saxe-Lauenburg. By a redeployment of Hanoverian territories in 1731 the Hanoverian [Duchies of Bremen and Verden](/source/Bremen-Verden) were conveyed the administration of the neighboured *Land of Hadeln*. The [Kingdom of Hanover](/source/Kingdom_of_Hanover) incorporated the *Land of Hadeln* in a [real union](/source/Real_union) and its territory, including Odisheim, became part of the new [Stade Region](/source/Stade_(region)), established in 1823.
